Archie Grand For J. Crew Notebooks, J. Crew, Origins, Origins Starting Over Moisturizer, Pink Truffle, Revlon, Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter, Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter Pink Truffle, St. Ives, St. Ives Shower Gel
Since today was Earth Day, some businesses were offering freebies or special deals on products, food, ect. I started the day off with a large FREE coffee since I declined a paper cup and gave them my thermos to fill up instead! Coffee in hand, I proceeded to Origins which had a deal going where if you brought in any of your cosmetic empties to recycle you could choose from a FREE full sized limited edition “Starting Over” or “A Perfect World” facial moisturizer. I love “Starting Over” so that is the one I picked. This was seriously a great deal since these moisturizers are a bit pricey. Score! Ignore my nails please…
The next item that was on my list was shower gel. I tend to not want any overwhelming fragrances in the form of shower gels or lotions early in the morning when I’m getting ready so I’m usually very particular with what I use. I prefer to switch up shower gels during the week since I also tend to grow tired of specific scents if I use them too often. I picked up two of these St. Ives shower gels for $3.00 each at Target after sniffing multiple different products. These will be good to alternate back and forth throughout the week!
I had a coupon so I also picked up ANOTHER Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in the color “Pink Truffle”…
I found yet another bargain of the day at one of my favorite stores, J. Crew. I have two of these colorful Archie Grand for J. Crew blank notebooks already. One is hot pink and the other is blue. Click here to see them on a previous post. Usually they are $10.00 each but today I got this one for $4.49!
I spent quite a bit of time outside today which was wonderful. It was a beautiful day!

I had a slight splurge day in regards to purchasing a few new goodies. I went to an Aveda salon and had a much needed hair trim to clean up the ends and fix up my layers. I’m in love with the smell of Aveda products so I always visit salons that use them. I am thinking of buying some of their shampoo and conditioner when I am out of my current Redken Color Extend which I am NOT enjoying. I also found out today that it (Redken) is not a sulfate free shampoo. That may have something to do with the mystery of my disappearing hair color. More on that topic later. I’m sure you are probably tired of me talking about that but I’m bound and detirmined to find out why my hair color has not been lasting.
Anyway, after my hair trim, I went to lunch at Panera Bread and had a bowl of mac and cheese and the roasted turkey artichoke on asiago focaccia hot panini! It was quite tasty. After lunch I ran some errands and made a quick trip to Target to look at the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter lipsticks. I had heard negative things about these at first but recently the reviews have been more positive. I was also still interested in the new Maybelline SuperStay 14 Hour Lipstick even after not being too impressed last weekend while looking at them. I ended up finding a shade that I loved in both products…
“Pout On Pink” is a beautiful matte coral pink shade which I know I will be wearing frequently!
I had looked at the selection of these lip butters before and never saw this color initially. I LOVE IT! We will see if it ends up being drying like some people have said. When applied, this shade is a subtle peachy nude color. The swatch makes it look shimmery and gold which it isn’t. It reminds me a bit of a deluded MAC “Underage” lipglass.
I consider these items splurges since I’m trying not to spend too much money. It didn’t end there though. I had been looking at these blank notebooks at J. Crew for awhile and ended up getting 2. I don’t know what I’m going to use the pink one for yet, but they will look cute on my desk.
Any thoughts on any of these items?

7 For All Mankind, Bath & Body Works, Christian Dior, Express, Fendi, J. Crew, L'Oreal, L'Oreal- Infallable Le Rouge, Lipstick, Lotion, LUSH, Make Up For Ever, Maybelline, Maybelline- SuperStay 14 Hour Lipstick, Michael Kors, Paris Amour, Sephora, Skechers, Ulta
After looking forward to the weekend, as always, I slept in and then crawled out of bed at my leisure. It was a beautiful blue skied sunny day and I was due for a “treat meal” so I went out for a cheeseburger and fries for lunch which was wonderful! After lunch I drove to the mall to do some window shopping and grab coffee. I hit Starbucks and ordered my favorite as of lately which is their new “Blonde” light roast with a splash of soy milk and vanilla powder.
I had a Bath & Body Works coupon for a free travel sized lotion so I wandered in and had a great time looking at and smelling all of their lovely spring candles! It’s the end of January so I’m still burning my winter scents and feel it would be jumping the gun to spark up a delightful fruity candle at this point. March is when I’ll take that plunge. As for the travel sized lotion, I decided on “Paris Amour”.
Between other stores, I stopped in a couple Aveda salons to ask about my recent hair color and shampoo issues. That in itself is another blog post topic which I will definitely address soon!
A shopping trip without checking out some makeup would be just plain weird for me. One of my main focuses today was to look at the new Maybelline SuperStay 14 Hour Lipstick. I really like the look of the packaging so I decided to take a peek in Ulta to see what kind of color selection was available.
The color pictured above is from the Maybelline website and appears to be the color used in the ads. I didn’t see this shade on display at Ulta and the color selection looked ok, nothing special. Some of the lipsticks appeared to have some glitter in them which I wasn’t too keen on. I actually didn’t spend too much time looking at them as I was distracted by the new L’Oreal Infallable Le Rouge lipsticks!
The packaging is very nice the color selection is beautiful! I know I will be purchasing a couple of these at some point soon. I will probably take a look at the Maybelline lipsticks again at another Ulta or Target since the Ulta I visited today did not have a great selection. Next up…Express…
I still had that $10.00 birthday coupon from Express burning a hole in my wallet so I used it to purchase a graphic tee. At first I was thinking the tee I picked out may look a little “young” for me and slightly 80’s (which is fine) but I loved the fun California themed print so I got it anyway!
I stopped in numerous other stores, one being LUSH where I sniffed a few of their bar soaps which I may try soon since I haven’t ever used their products! If you have any suggestions of your favorite LUSH bar soaps please let me know! Off to Sephora….
I have been interested in Make Up For Ever HD Foundation which I was color matched for and grabbed a sample of as well as their face primer. I will do a review on it after wearing it a few times!
There were many things I was eyeballing as I window shopped but keeping the money IN my wallet gave me a feeling of empowerment! I was not a slave to the many temptations which surrounded me! Here are some pictures of fantastic shoes which I came across…I love the metal detailing and buckles…I AM a slave to buckles. I adore big chunky ones on shoes, bags, jewelry, you name it!
Last but not least, what do you think of all the bright colored skinny jeans that have been all over lately? I’ve been drawn to the neon coral shade skinnies at J. Crew and peachy colored jeans at Express…
Those were just SOME of the items I looked at and admired today. This post most likely made you dizzy since I was literally jumping around from this to that and all over. That is usually how my weekend mall trips are since I’m highly caffeinated and running around getting my fill of material bliss. And yes, there is more to me than shopping and makeup. This blog is centered around these things and I haven’t ventured into other topics as of yet, so stay tuned and you will start to see some of my other passions appear in future posts!
Here is my current nail color of the week. Excuse the dry winter hands that make me look about 800 years old.
While preparing this photo to post and noting my Pandora bracelet in the image, I started thinking of the current bracelet stacking trend. J. Crew has some nice looking stackable bracelets that I have been looking at lately whenever I wander into the store. I like how they combine different metals and stones as well as wood and plastic to create their unique pieces. Here are some of the more classic style bracelets that have caught my eye…
I wear watches daily and tend to alternate the most between my gold and rose gold Michael Kors watches. I’m always afraid I’m going to ruin the watches with clanking bracelets hitting against them all day. I have heard this complaint from other bracelet stacking ladies. On days when I do wear numerous bracelets with my watch, I try mix leather wrap bracelets in with metal and beaded pieces to act as buffers between the metals. Why not stack on the OTHER wrist you may ask? Well, I say stacking on either wrist looks good but bracelets combined with a watch looks even better I think! Lately I’ve only been wearing my Pandora bracelet with whichever watch I choose for the day. It does not clank around and stays in place most of the time. I have done some searching online for bracelet stacking inspiration…Here are some of the images I found!
Beautiful arm art if you ask me!
Is this a style that you enjoy too?
